Manager supporting shareholders on value generation | Storytelling, positioning, and processes that build valuable organizations
Strategy and execution that generate value for entrepreneurs.
Valuation of entrepreneurial companies is highly related to effective systems, modern product operations, and clear business and financial storytelling.
Entrepreneurial CEOs seeking to sell their companies so that they can focus on something else, often find out that, after a long negotiation, they still don't get to walk away. When the business runs through them, they may not only get a lower value compared to what they expect, but they will also be required to stay onboard to help transition to the new ownership for a pretty long time.
That is because investors prioritize risk mitigation. They prefer companies with stable systems and predictable output. Investors think in terms of red flags. Every red flag is a bow to valuation. Too many of them and the transaction is off entirely.
On the other end, the very same skills that made entrepreneurs successful starting and growing their companies at first, can become a burden when their companies turn into mature businesses. Flexibility, adaptability and personal connections fade in importance for reliability, stability and predictability as the key value drivers. In other words, as they grow, entrepreneurs face the challenges of maturity.
My job is to support entrepreneurs and make sure they get the full value for what they built. That they get fair deals. And they get to move on as soon as possible.
I have spent years building systems for companies based on two key elements: researching and understanding customers and aligning storytelling across organizations.
